USSA President pinched on St. Patty's

According to Jesse Huffman of the ESPN Snowboarding Blog:

Just a month after Scotty Lago's Bronze medal bar antics got him axed from the Olympics, the U.S. Ski and Snowboarding Association is again feeling the sting resulting from public partying.

Lago left Vancouver prematurely after incriminating photos of him and a woman posing with his medal at a bar raised the ire of Olympic officials and USSA President and CEO Bill Marolt. Marolt's statement to the Associated Press called Lago's "involvement in this situation unacceptable."

In early 2006, when Bode Miller appeared on 60 Minutes and discussed ski racing while drunk, ("If you've ever tried to ski when you're wasted, it's not easy ... It's like driving drunk, only there are no rules about it in ski racing,") Marolt was equally unamused and traveled to Switzerland to "work with [Miller] to both recognize the seriousness of his comments and to reach a positive outcome," the Associated Press reported.

Now Marolt, 66, who was an Olympic skier in 1964, has found himself on the "caught" end of the spectrum after being arrested on suspicion of DUI in Park City, Utah, on March 17 -- Saint Patrick's Day.

In a short statement released Saturday, the Colorado Ski Hall of Famer Marolt said, "This is something that I take very seriously both as an individual and as a leader of our organization. I apologize for any disruption this may cause to the organization for which I'm so passionate."

The USSA would make no other comments at this time.
